Crystallizer Water Cooler & Condenser

For a slag washer at a power plant where both heat exchangers are used in different process steps to heat saturated brine.

In the crystallizer water cooler, brine is heated using hot water. In the crystallizer condenser, this is achieved using steam.

A client operating in water treatment systems requires heat exchangers for a power plant to heat saturated brine for water purification purposes.

Due to the high salt content and abrasive nature of the saturated brine, Hastelloy C-276 was selected. A single-pass shell was chosen to accommodate the large volume of brine. By omitting the bonnets, the exchangers can be integrated directly into the piping. To ensure the large volume of steam flows correctly through the condenser shell, it was designed as an X-shell with an inlet manifold.

These are Shell & Tube heat exchangers. A one-pass shell with fixed tubesheets and an X-shell, both without bonnets, TEMA types _EM and _XM. Shells in stainless steel, tubes and tubesheets in Hastelloy (stainless steel tubesheet with Hastelloy cladding) according to PED Cat. I/Mod. A and Cat. III/Mod. H and ASME VIII Div. 1.
