The heat exchanger is used at a large power plant to cool natural gas before it enters the gas turbine. This is achieved using cooling water. Based on the existing drawings, ROBOX manufactured a new bundle that could be installed without any modifications to the existing shell and cover.
In addition, the tube-to-tubesheet connection was upgraded from a strength weld only to a strength weld with light expansion. The light expansion was added to prevent cooling water from penetrating between the tube and the tubesheet. In this way, the risk of crevice corrosion is minimized.
These are Shell & Tube heat exchangers. A removable U-bundle, TEMA type BEU. Entirely in CS according to PED cat.IV/Mod.H1 and ASME VIII Div.1 and TEMA R.
