For a DEG/TEG distillation plant to be built by MTE Process, heat exchangers are required for the various steps in the process. These ensure the optimal course of the process, both thermally and energetically.
In the pre-heater, the product stream is preheated using a bottom stream. The bottom, top, and draw-off coolers are used to cool the product stream with water. These are all liquid heaters/coolers without phase transition, where heat transfer takes place between two liquids.
MTE is building a complete distillation plant for DEG/TEG for the first time. Previously, the focus was primarily on columns and internals. ROBOX was approached by MTE to build the heat exchangers for this distillation unit. The heat exchangers had already been calculated by another party. During thermal verification with HTRI software, ROBOX discovered errors in these design calculations. This saved the client from being supplied with a non-functioning unit. ROBOX performed new calculations and also manufactured the heat exchangers. Because the design of the installation was already at an advanced stage, limited available space had to be taken into account. The design remained compact through the application of innovative wire mesh turbulators.
Due to time lost correcting errors made elsewhere, the time pressure was high. ROBOX acted extremely quickly and consequently realized the project within a very short delivery time. The unit was started up to the full satisfaction of the client and functions excellently. Unprecedentedly high product purities are being achieved. New orders followed quickly.
