The post condenser is a liquid / gas condenser and uses cooling water (in the tubes) to cool the process gas and to condense some components.
Due to the vacuum (2 kPa) there is a large volume flow and a low pressure loss is crucial for the process. Therefore, an X-flow shell was chosen where the gas flow enters transversely of the hull and immediately leaves the hull on the other side. The experience with vacuum processes and the possibilities to properly simulate composite flows made it possible to accurately determine at what pressure and temperatures condensation occurs and in what quantity and composition. This is valuable information for the designers of the vacuum system in connection with the selection of the pump and other components in the system. As a result, an efficient and cost-effective design could be successfully offered to the end customer.
The post condenser is a Shell & Tube heat exchangers. A cross-flow shell with removable U-bundle and removable bonnet. TEMA type BXU 273/2850. Entirely in stainless steel according to PED cat.III / Mod.B1 + F and ASME VIII Div.1
