CNG installation intended for a filling station to refuel CNG at the desired pressure and temperature.
The economizer / condenser is used to cool and condense the compressed gas with boil-off gas. The economizer is a gas cooler without phase transition. In the condenser, the gas is cooled to such an extent that it condenses. The gas is cooled in the evaporater by evaporating a refrigerant on the other side.
CNG is a clean, low-emission fossil fuel. It is in fact pressurized natural gas. Heat exchangers are required for the proper functioning of a CNG filling station. To work energetically efficiently, boil-off gas is used to cool compressed gas. Refrigerant that evaporates is also used to cool at a low temperature. Due to the low temperatures and the phase transition of both the compressed gas and the refrigerant, a good simulation of the process is indispensable. ROBOX’s thermal expertise allowed these simulations to be performed reliably. The customer’s wish to use the same installation more often made it even more important to realize the most efficient and compact design. This has been achieved through smart design and the use of turbulators to increase heat transfer. The installation has now been successfully built and delivered several times by the client.
