In the crystallizer water cooler, hot water heats the brine. In the crystallizer condenser, steam is used.
For a water treatment facility at a power plant, heat exchangers are required for the heating of saturated brine.
Hastelloy C-276 is selected, because of high levels of natrium chloride in the saturated brine. Because of the large brine mass flow, a single pass shell is used. By omitting the headers, it is possible to install the heat exchangers as an integral part of the piping. As there is a large mass flow of steam, for optimal flow, an X-shell with an inlet manifold is used.
Shell & Tube heat exchangers. One-pass shell with fixed tubesheets and an X-shell, both without headers, TEMA type _EM and _XM. Shells in stainless steel, tubes in Hastelloy, tubesheet in stainless steel with Hastelloy clad, according to PED Cat.I/Mod.A and Cat.III/Mod.H and ASME VIII Div.1.
